The Java Users Group Joins with other New Media Organizations to Sponsor a Special Black History Month Event on February 20.

The Java Users Group, NAMIC/NY, and BDPA/NY Information Technology Thought Leaders (Black Data Processing Associates) and Aimtech will celebrate Black History Month with a special joint meeting on February 20, 1997.

The theme is "Media Companies On The Web" and their relationship with the African American community.

The meeting, which is free to all will be held at NYU's Main Building, 31 Washington Place, Room 703 from 7:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M..

Representatives from HBO's CyberSoulCity, Essence Online, and VIBE Online will be on hand to demo their websites and share information.

The event will be moderated by Michael Liburd, President of NAMIC, (National Association of Minorities in Cable). Other co-sponsors of the event, include the Java Users Group, founded to help programmers and non-programers learn about Java, and Aimtech, a company that developed Jamba, a tool to utilize Java for non-programmers. As part of the evening's event, a representative of Aimtech will give a demo of Jamba.

The primary sponsor of the evening, is the Java Users Group dedicated to educating the public about Sun Microsystem's Java which is an object oriented programming language. The group's membership includes individuals and corporations with varied backgrounds.

This "Second Annual Black History Month Event" promises to be successful as last year's, which drew a full audience.
